Evaluation -

In the beginning of animation we learned about rostrum cameras and how they worked, during my research into animation I learned more and more about rostrum cameras and how they work. I learnt that a rostrum camera is made especially for television production used to animate a still picture or an object it can also be used for special effects for mainly for static objects.

This is an Example of how a rostrum camera can bring an object to life.

I learnt that stop motion is a technique used to make a static object appear like its moving, the object is moved little by little and this creates the illusion that it is moving on its own when the frames are played as a continuous sequence as seen below.

While taking the pictures and after while editing and putting the pictures together I learnt that precision
is key, some of the pictures we're too far apart and the picture jumped too far which effected the video. Also lighting, we used a cannon D500 with the flash on so when Michael was close to the camera, it caught his face, I didn't notice this till the editing process. If we had more time i would have spent longer on it and i would have taken more pictures which would have made the finished video better and more precise. Also i would make sure that all the pictures were similar colour wise.

In the lesson we put the pictures on the software final cut and began arranging the pictures, we then resized the pictures making them smaller by shortening the duration to 00.00.00.04, after this we thought of adding sounds so we used soundtrack pro to add sounds to the pictures. I think the video ended up being good andi think it does look like a stop motion video.

We've also looked at light animation in the studio using a canon D500 we turn off the lights and proceeded to taking the pictures, we used torches and coloured filters and we pointed them towards the camera and made different shapes. In the lesson our idea was to make an animation game of pong.
If we had more time we maybe could have made it look better taking more time coordinating ourselves better but i think for the time that we had we did a good job.

The camera was set to bulb which is a setting that leaves the camera shutter open and takes in all light detected.  This explains how we made the game.

How we made it: We got two people to stand 3 meters away from each other while one person drifted towards either side. Another person then wrote the score of the game as another person took the pictures. we moved the torches in certain motions to create the images. All of this was done using communication to keep the torches in the right position. I then gathered the pictures and imported them onto final cut, i then shortened the duration to 00:00:00:04.

In one of the lessons we create a horror picture which we then went on to create a poster from. In the lesson we used blood that was made from a mixture of chocolate sauce and red dye. We went to the photography and took pictures, Some of us had to instruct the peoples who had been decorated and made up, we had to tell the subject to smile in a sinister way or show teeth anything to make the pictures seem like they were taken from a borrow film. Even though it wasn't real blood i think we exploited the makeup and the lighting to the fullest and i think we got the best effect we could have out of it, i compared my finished poster with a poster form the internet. I think they are similar, mine lacks visibility and if i could do it again for longer i could have changed some parts and messed with the contrast and made it bette brut i think the finished poster is good.

GreenScreen Lesson.

We used a wooden mannequin for the animation. In the lesson we used the canon 5D and green screen to animate the mannequin. We moved the mannequin ever so slightly and stabilised it after touching it.
Green light was mounted around the camera which helped us achieve the green screen effect, light was also cancelled out with the bowens gemini lighting this ensured that when it came to the animation the pictures the mannequin could still be seen and would no disappear because of exposure to the green light. Green screen effect: We used the green light around the camera to shine light onto the grey surface although you couldn't see the green effect the camera picked it up and we got the green screen effect. Then you could use any background.
